"Badly! It's an adverb! How can you even write a book when you don't know grammar?"

My body has been torturing me with allergies since I was a kid.

Out of 110 things that I was tested for, I came up allergic to 109 things.

The only thing I'm not allergic to is corn.

As they years pass, my body comes up with different things for me to react to, and the reactions are never the same.

I thought the worst thing I could experience was when I developed a reaction to laundry detergent. I mean, think about it, detergent is on clothes and I wear clothes everywhere...

But no, that wasn't the worst. This week was the worst, when I developed an allergy to my new birth control pills.

Yeah, I know.

I mean, at least with detergent, it was only an exterior issue, and the reaction only occurred where clothing touched me.

For the past few days I have just had burning, itching hive clusters develop randomly all over my body. Benedryl - even in double dose - is barely helping the situation.

Monday I had a tightness in my chest, and yesterday I started wheezing when I breathed.

Needless to say, I'm off of the pills. But just like every other allergen, I have to wait for it to leave my system before the symptoms stop, so I have a good two more days of this joy.

I contacted my doctor; she wants to send me in for a battery of tests which I have hopefully talked her out of, unless she wants to pay for them (no insurance, which is why I was on these different pills to begin with). Now I'm just waiting for her to call in my regular, more expensive pills (before anyone asks, I use them for hormonal reasons and wouldn't be on them otherwise).

Keep your fingers crossed that this experience hasn't screwed up my system too badly...

I've been called a prude many times over the past few months.
*waits for the laughter to die down*
Believe it or not, I can be rather prudish... when it comes to words.

I was just given the "I'm being sent out of the country on business this Friday, so can we meet this Thursday? I'm going to be gone for a year and my company just decided on this trip today." schpeal. I didn't think people still used that line anymore.

My response? "Nice talking with you."

And then people wonder why I don't give out my number and have precise rules about how I meet someone...

This time I was interviewed by fellow author Michael A Ventrella. Hope you enjoy it!

MICHAEL A. VENTRELLA: Today, I am pleased to be interviewing KT Pinto. KT has been writing since she was twelve, finally getting her first book published in 2007. She writes alternate history (The Books of Insanity series) with vampyres and alternate reality (The Sto’s House Presents series) with mutants. She is a modern mythologist and a self-proclaimed ‘fluffy goth’ who would sooner wear pink with sparkles than black velvet. She will be a guest at Balticon in a few weeks (where I also will be a guest). KT will be promoting her latest novel and participating in a book release party.

KT, let’s talk first about your latest big news. You received a grant! Tell us about the End of the Rainbow project...

Sayeth I:

Never believe what a politician says as a general principle, but especially when they are trying to win an election.

It takes a brave man to have a startling revelation, it takes a braver man to have one that may lose him an election, not gain him one.

I can be real deep sometimes!

...do all guys think dating is a game?

I'm not talking relationships; I'm talking dating. Going on dates.

The newest game seems to be to bother me over and over and over about spending time with me, then we set up the meeting and they bail.

I don't mean call up and saying they can't make it. I mean no call/no show/no acknowledgement...

Then they call/text a few days later with a 'hey, did we have something this week?'-type call.

And they wonder why I don't bother responding...

Well, THAT got your attention, didn't it? It's not actually that I need more sex; it's more that I need a better social life. It just happens to be that my social trends tend to lean more towards "intimate" parties or naughty little one on one sessions... oh, and sushi. But that's with my vanilla girl friends and they can't seem to get it together these days...

Anyway, I think I need to be more active in the social world because I'm not TIRED enough. I stay up as late as possible, until I feel tired, and then I lie in bed for another hour or so, staring up at the ceiling, doesn't matter what time I lie down. When I finally do go to sleep, my brain can't stop whirling, even to the point that, when I have naughty dreams, my brain starts trying to figure out of the logistics are accurate instead of just enjoying the moment.

But maybe if I'm really exhausted, I can actually get some sleep. But there just doesn't seem to be much activity in my age group, sadly. And before someone says go to The City, that sounds great but falls short when you don't a) have money or b) know people who live there who go to the night scene.

Believe me, I've tried it.

Even my vanilla exercising every day doesn't cut it, as I am inherently lazy and the workout does not exceed sweating levels that I am comfortable with. :D

Reason for this rant? None, honestly. This is just what was whirling through my head this morning...

I have been nominated for

Greatest Author Around Staten Island

(in case I haven't mentioned it...)

So please vote here:

Staten Island Arts & Entertainment

Voting Ballot

You can vote only once per day (per computer), but Firefox and IE (and any other search engine) can each take one vote.
Just sayin'...

What do I get if I win, you ask (and I know some of you did...)

From their site: http://greatestaround.com/how-it-works/winning/

What does it mean to win Greatest Around? Plain and simple, it means your community loves you. Not just the community but your friends, fans, patrons, patients and most likely your family. You’re a winner!

It’s way more than just a plaque on the wall. But imagine your name on that plaque? It’s the prestige of not only being nominated by your peers, patrons or patients, it’s the honor that you’ve been voted the Greatest Around. You did it!

For the next twelve months you are entitled to the benefits of using the Greatest Around seal and award in your advertising. There’s no required purchase to display the award on your website. You earned it. Our web-team will even help and send you the code to place the award on your site.

Upon seeing your advertisements and because of our national branding your customers and tourists will immediately associate your company with the Greatest Around and that you have been voted by your community as the best/greatest.

In each area that we coordinate a Greatest Around community poll we use the same rules, screening and methodology. Having this plaque or banner on your establishment, a graphic/award on your website, etc. makes you stand out from your competition.

I think that authors should be spotlighted at events... especially when the event is sponsored by a local bookstore. Just sayin'.

I got this compliment from Victor Toro this evening:

you at least work hard on your stuff everyday and do work hard
i know this
you are not some spoiled bitch like barbie

Maybe you had to "be there" for the whole conversation, but trust me, it's high praise indeed.

What about love?
It's defective - it's always breaking in half!
What about sex?
It's defective - it's never built to really last...
What about your family?
It's defective - all the batteries are shot.
What about your friends?
They're defective - all the parts are out of stock.

With polyamory seeming to be all the rage these days (in various forms in both vanilla and kink worlds) has got me thinking a lot about when last I was in love.

WARNING: Rambling thoughts ahead! )

Congratulations on reading the entire post! If you haven't, shame on you for taking my congratulations. I'm taking them back!

While I was at the St. George Day Fair, I found out that I was nominated to be the Greatest Author Around Staten Island!!!

If I understand correctly, in order to be on the voting ballot, TWENTY FIVE people had to nominate me. It really makes me understand what people mean when they say "It's an honor to be nominated."

It is an honor... but I really want to win! Who wouldn't?

People are allowed to vote for a nominee once per day, and voting continues until May 15th. Here is the link for the Arts and Entertainment Voting Ballot. (I think you have to sign up for their free newsletter in order to vote...) Please feel free to vote for the other categories and on other voting ballots.

I will be mentioning this on a regular basis...
